Automatic Card Updates
Saved payment card details can continue to function even if the physical card is replaced by the issuing bank. Stripe partners with card networks to automatically update saved card details for recurring donations whenever a card is replaced (for instances like expiration or lost/stolen cards). This continuity ensures ongoing support without interruption and minimizes the need to collect new card details, though fees may apply.
Saved Cards
When supporters use a card for donations, their payment information is securely stored and accessible via the Virtual Terminal for future transactions. This simplifies processing new donations upon request from the supporter.
If a supporter uses multiple card payment methods, each card is displayed distinctly in the Virtual Terminal as a saved payment option.
Changing Payment Methods
Supporters with recurring plans may choose to update their payment methods independently through their Donor Portal, switching from card-based payments to alternative methods. Learn more about Donor Portal capabilities →
