Connecting an Existing Stripe Account
If your organization already has a Stripe account, visit the Stripe page in the Payment methods section of your Givetly account settings. Select the Connect Stripe account option and follow the prompts to connect the Stripe account.
Your existing Stripe account must be of the Standard type. Learn more about the different Stripe account types.
You must have either the Administrator or Developer role in your organization’s Stripe account in order to connect Stripe to Givetly.
Creating a New Stripe Account
If your organization does not have a Stripe account or if you would like to create a new Stripe account for use with Givetly, follow these steps:
- Go to the Stripe page in the Payment methods section of your Givetly account settings.
- Click the Create new account button.
- Click Activate Stripe account and follow Stripe’s instructions to activate your new account.
Setting up a Stripe account is easy and free. Just remember to provide the necessary documentation, similar to any financial institution, to keep your account in good standing.
You can start using your account right away, but to make sure it’s fully functional, check out these Stripe requirements for your country of citizenship for the documents you’ll need to submit. Keep in mind that while your country of citizenship may be listed there, your organization can only be based in the countries included in the table above to create an account with Stripe.
Stripe Nonprofit Discount
Stripe offers special discounted rates to eligible nonprofits. Nonprofits can access reduced processing fees for certain types of payments, including credit and debit card payments, ACH payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Learn more →

Stripe supports a wide range of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, ACH payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more. All payment methods are secure and encrypted, ensuring that customers can make donations confidently and securely. Additionally, Stripe supports payments in over 130 currencies, making it a great choice for engaging supporters globally.

Fees
Stripe assesses fees based on the payment method used to process a donation. You can view an explanation of fees on Stripe’s website. Learn more →
The Givetly transaction fee is a flat-rate fee. We do not charge different fees based on the payment methods used to process donations.
Transferring Metadata
The only donation metadata that will be transferred to Stripe is the Donation ID.
