Post-Donation Experience

After a donation is made via the Checkout modal, you can choose to:

  • Redirect supporters to a specific URL (for example, your organization’s “Thank You” page), or;
  • Use Givetly’s default Thank You screen.

URL Parameters

When redirecting supporters to a custom thank you page, Givetly appends the following parameters to the URL:

  • donationId — The unique Givetly donation ID.
  • amount — The donation amount (e.g., “10.20”).
  • currency — The ISO currency code (e.g., “USD”).
  • monthly — Denotes if the donation is a recurring donation (“true” or “false”).
  • supporterFirstName and supporterLastName — The donator’s name.
  • supporterEmail — The donator’s email.
  • designationId / designationName — If applicable, the chosen designation’s ID and name.
  • tributeId — Any dedication’s ID attached to the donation.

For example:

https://www.example.org/thank-you?donationId=DTECRHJM&amount=26.50&currency=USD&monthly=true&supporterFirstName=John&supporterLastName=Salmon&supporterEmail=johnsalmon%40gmail.com&designationId=EVYM3M9Q&designationName=where%20it%20is%20needed%20most&tributeId=TGRRPJUA

If using a custom Thank You screen, you can build a tribute completion link using the tributeId parameter. This link must be constructed as [Donor Portal URL]/tributes/[tributeId] (e.g., https://mycharity.donorsupport.com/tributes/TGRRPJUA).

To find and set your Donor Portal URL, visit Dashboard settings.

Givetly’s Default Thank You Screen

Within the Checkout modal settings, you can decide if supporters see the Givetly Thank You screen or redirect them to another URL post-donation. The default screen includes options for social media sharing to encourage increased engagement.

Appearance Options

If utilizing Givetly’s thank you screen, determine visibility for social media sharing via toggling. Depending on your selections, supporters will see different visual layouts:

  • With sharing options enabled:

  • With all platforms disabled:

Share URL

A URL is shared upon supporter action. You can either:

  • Leave it blank (default to sharing the original donation page URL), or;
  • Input a custom URL to share specific content.

To auto-open a Checkout modal on arriving pages, append the campaign ID (e.g., https://yourorganization.org/landing-page#DONATE).

Custom Default Message

Custom messages can pre-fill alongside social shares to highlight campaign messaging even if supporters choose not to edit the default.

Example of no pre-set message on Facebook:

Enabling Sharing Channels

Customize and disable sharing on specific social platforms as needed. Generally, it’s recommended to keep all options open to maximize donor outreach and engagement.
