Conditions for Displaying Venmo in Checkout
- Venmo is only available for one-time donations and will not be displayed for recurring donations.
- On desktop devices, Venmo will appear for any operating system or browser.
- On mobile devices, Venmo is displayed as a payment option on iPhone and iPad through Safari, and on Android devices through Chrome.
Payment Flow
Below are instructions for completing a Venmo donation on both desktop and mobile devices.
Desktop
When selecting Venmo on a Checkout modal a scannable QR code appears. Scanning it with a mobile device will launch the Venmo app to prepare the payment. After completing the payment in Venmo, the Checkout form advances automatically, pre-filling the donor’s personal details from their Venmo account.
Mobile
Selecting Venmo on a mobile device will directly open the Venmo app to prepare the payment. Once the payment is completed, the user is redirected back to the original Checkout modal or Page, with their personal information pre-filled.
Notifications
Venmo supporters will receive notifications configured in their Venmo account, in addition to any triggered by our platform.
Limitations
- Venmo is limited to one-time donations only.
- On desktop, a Venmo window displays the label “No fees no matter how you pay,” which refers to Venmo fees and not the platform fee, which still applies and cannot be hidden.
