What is Insights?

The Insights section of the Dashboard provides you with detailed, real-time statistics to identify trends and improve fundraising strategies. Discover how to interpret Insights data and use the right tools to optimize your campaigns.

Raised Graphs

Three key graphs:

  • Total raised: The main graph shows total donations, both one-time and recurring, in the account currency.
  • First installments: Displays first installments of recurring donations for the chosen period.
  • One-time donations: Shows counts and total value of one-time donations in the selected timeframe.

Adjust these graphs using filters for specific Campaign, Designation, or Source. Note: the Frequency filter does not influence these graphs.

Only successful donations appear, omitting pending, refunded, or manually added offline donations.

Comparing Data

To set a specific date range, adjust the timeline under “Insights.” Results (thick blue line) compare against the previous period (thin gray line). Modify the comparison timeframe via the “Compared to” dropdown.

  • Previous Period: Matches the selected timeframe, but ends a day prior. For instance, choosing May 2-16 shows comparison data from April 17 - May 1.

Specific Timeframes

Selection ranges are inclusive, spanning from midnight of the start date to 11:59 PM of the end date, respecting your organization’s time zone.

Identifying New Donations

View new supporters acquired within a selected period by selecting “One-time” and “Recurring (first installments)” in the “Frequency” filter.

Discovering New Tactics with Performance

The Performance section informs whether you’re maximizing tools. Regularly check this section to track progress.

Saved Recurring Plans

View recurring plans ‘saved’ when supporters choose to modify instead of canceling. A higher number indicates favorable retention. Enable options in your Donor Portal’s settings for better results.

Pre-Donation and Post-Donation Upsell

Upsell examples:

- **Pre-donation upsell** during checkout prompts upgrading from one-time to recurring donation.

- **Post-donation upsell** offered after completing a one-time transaction.

To ensure upsell features are active, verify in Dashboard > Campaigns > [Campaign name] > Settings > Frequencies.

Covered Costs

Allow donors to cover transaction fees with their donation. The higher the coverage percentage, the more beneficial for your organization. Consider enabling “Adaptive cost coverage” under Dashboard > Campaigns > [Campaign name] > Settings > Transaction costs.

Fraud Prevention

Track fraudulent payment attempts intercepted by automated and manual systems. Minimize risk with a minimum donation threshold: Dashboard > Campaigns > [Campaign name] > Settings > Minimum amounts.

Mobile Users

Monitor mobile donation trends, which inform mobile strategy refinement. View percentages for mobile-originated donations. Selection filters like Virtual Terminal or Recurring migration may restrict data display.

Campaign Planning with Day and Time

Use heatmaps to view donation timings, helping future campaign scheduling. Analyse patterns using “Last 7 days” data. Tune view with “Source” and “Frequency” filters.

Understanding Supporters

Graphs reveal loyal donor profiles and average donation details. Both average and median amounts are provided, with the median giving a clearer representation by sidelining extremes.

Frequencies

Gather insights on preferred donation frequencies to adjust strategy accordingly. Frequencies are controlled at the campaign level and may need enabling in organizational settings.

Payment Methods

Understand which payment methods donors prefer. Review enabled methods in Dashboard > Settings > Payment methods.

Designations

See which donation designations are most popular, encouraging tailored donor outreach. Consider enabling multiple or default designations.

Only designations active during selected periods appear.

Countries

Monitor your organization’s geographic reach, identifying potential expansion opportunities. Translation efforts for foreign audiences might be considered.

Tributes

See tribute donation trends to engage deeply with donors through personalized communication.

Fundraisers

Supporter-driven fundraising efforts are highlighted if enabled. Engage your community by allowing them to create personal fundraising campaigns.
