Enabling Apple Pay
You’ll see a notification if your account has any unverified domains. To check if your domain is verified, navigate to Settings > Payment methods > Apple Pay > Domains.
Apple Pay is automatically enabled once your Stripe account is set up in the Payment Methods section of your main Dashboard settings. To begin using Apple Pay, you must register all of your web domains displaying the Apple Pay button with Apple. This includes both top-level domains (e.g., “mycharity.org”) and subdomains (e.g., “donate.charity.org”).
Here are platform-specific instructions to verify your domains:
If your website isn’t hosted on these platforms, follow these steps:
- Place this domain association file in the
/.well-known/
directory of your website. The full path to the file will behttps://mycharity.com/.well-known/apple-developer-merchantid-domain-association
(wheremycharity.com
is your organization’s site). - Return to the Apple Pay page in your Givetly settings and click the Verify website ownership button to register your domain with Apple.
- After registering all your domains, use Apple Pay as a donation option in your Checkout modals and Campaign Pages.
Do not remove the domain association file after verification to ensure continued Apple Pay functionality.
Donor Portal/Campaign Pages domains are automatically verified. If an account has subaccounts with inherited payment methods, their Donor Portal/Campaign Pages domains are also verified for Apple Pay automatically.
Requirements to Display Apple Pay in Checkout
Supporters will only see Apple Pay if all the criteria are met for their device.

- Safari on Mac running macOS Sierra or later.
- A compatible device with a card in its Wallet paired to a Mac with Handoff, or a Mac with TouchID. Instructions are on Apple’s Support site.

Safari on iPhone and iPad
- Mobile Safari on iOS 10.1 or later.

As of iOS 16, Apple Pay might work in some non-Safari mobile browsers with a card saved in a supporter’s Wallet.
Incompatible Website Builders
