Introduction
enhances event tracking by sending events directly to Meta’s servers using their Conversions API. This complements the Meta Pixel by ensuring event collection even when browser-side tracking is blocked by script blockers or when iOS 14.5+ users disable tracking.
If you’re using Meta Pixel through JavaScript or Google Tag Manager, sends server events only if the deployment script isn’t blocked.
Prerequisites
To enable server-based event tracking with Meta, you’ll need:
- Organization Administrator access to your account
- Access to Meta Business Suite including “Business asset groups”
Activation Steps
- Enable the Meta Conversions API by selecting Add pixel in Analytics tools.
- Enter your Meta Pixel ID found in Meta Events Manager under the pixel name.
- Provide your access token, generated in the pixel settings by selecting Generate access token.
- Optional: To test tracking in Meta Events Manager, add a test token in via Add test token to events.
- Obtain a test token by selecting your pixel, navigate to Test events, and copy the test event code (e.g., “Test12345”).
- Paste the test code in the Add test token to events field.
- Check Pixel is active.
- Click Save changes.
will now transmit server-level events to Meta via the Conversions API.
